Discipline Committee Notice: June 18, 2025

A meeting of the Discipline Committee of the New Brunswick Association of Social Workers was held on June 18, 2025, to determine a complaint against a member.

Specifically, the member was alleged of failing to comply with workplace standards and directives related to record keeping and documentation.

The member voluntarily admitted that she had committed professional misconduct: 
  1. She admitted that she had failed to meet her ethical obligations.
  2. She admitted that she had failed to comply with workplace standards and directives related to record keeping and documentation.
  3. She acknowledged that social workers are accountable to their clients and to the organization for maintaining their files.
  4. She agreed that disciplinary sanctions were appropriate.

Following a determination that the member was guilty of professional misconduct, the Discipline Committee imposed the following disciplinary sanctions:
  1. payment of a fine of $500.00;
  2. completion of a professional development assignment on documentation as determined by the Registrar; 
  3. a written reprimand to be placed in the member’s personnel file for a period of five years; and
  4. the publication of a summary of the proceeding without names for the education of members.
