CORT2020: The Conference on Religious Trauma
Apr. 24 — 26, 2020 All Day
As a society, our understanding of mental health is evolving. With public discourse including more honest discussions about mental health, shame and stigma are becoming relics of the past.
We want to offer your association members the opportunity to build on this momentum. We want to talk openly about the trauma which can be caused by religion.
While not all manifestations of religious belief are harmful, there is no denying that some forms of religious devotion can cause real and lasting harm, particularly when indoctrination begins in childhood.
That’s why I founded CORT2020: The Conference on Religious Trauma. This is a three-day event where leading experts discuss the causes, effects, and recovery related to religious trauma. As a Registered Professional Counsellor, I developed an interest in religious trauma syndrome after my own painful journey away from fundamentalism.
In addition to offering a discount of $60 off per ticket to your association members, up to 12 Continuing Education Credits from the Canadian Professional Counsellors Association (CPCA) will be available to mental health clinicians attending CORT2020.
Speakers include Dr. Marlene Winell, Dr. Darrell Ray, and Nathan Phelps, son of the founder of the Westboro Baptist Church. Many other experts in the field of religious trauma will also be speaking and providing workshops.
The event takes place in Vancouver, BC, Canada from April 24th-26th, and spaces are filling up fast.
If you would like to tell your members about this historical event, we can create a coupon code specifically for you. If you would like any graphics to share with your members, we would be happy to supply them.
