Miguel is responsible for providing strategic leadership and executive support to the President and Board of Directors to meet the vision, mission and strategic objectives of the organization. Miguel is responsible to lead, plan and execute the implementation and operationalization of the strategic plan’s four pillars:
- Member engagement
- Promotion of the profession
- Protection of the public, and
- Governance and resources for the provincial Association
Miguel leads and manages a team of professional employees. He is responsible for all matters related to the organization’s Board of Directors, Chapters, strategic plan, human resources and financial management, and stakeholder and government relations.
Born in Scoudouc, New Brunswick, Miguel now lives with his wife and two young boys in New Maryland, New Brunswick. An avid fly fisherman, who also loves to golf with his wife and read fiction and non-fiction books, Miguel received his Bachelor of Social Work from St. Thomas University and his Master of Social Work from Carleton University.

Martine is the primary contact for practice standards, ethics and disciplinary processes. Martine also supports the regulatory process related to applications for registration. Her responsibilities include support to the Committee of Examiners, Complaints Committee, Discipline Committee and Practice Issues, Ethics and Professional Standards Committee.
Originally from Campbellton, Martine graduated from l’Université de Moncton in 2010 with a Bachelor of Social Work. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time outdoors and boating with her husband. She also loves to cook and try new recipes.
Keara Grey, RSW

Keara leads the development, coordination, and implementation of continuing education initiatives to meet the needs of the membership. Keara plans and supports the implementation of various work involved with policy, professional standards and members engagement. She is also heavily involved in the implementation of the comprehensive five-year Social Work Recruitment and Retention Strategy.
Keara graduated with a Bachelor of Arts and a Bachelor of Social Work degree from St. Thomas University in Fredericton. She is currently completing her Master of Social Work degree with Wilfrid Laurier University. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, playing piano, and spending time outside with her daughter and two dogs.
Ethan Stryde

Ethan is responsible for directing all communications, marketing, media relations, and public relations activities for the Association. This involves producing communications materials, developing initiatives (such as public campaigns) that promote social work, liaising with press, planning and arranging events in support of the NBASW mandate, and managing social media as well as other member communications.
Ethan earned a graduate diploma in Communications from Concordia University in Montréal, QC after finishing his undergraduate studies in English and Communications at McGill University. He enjoys playing and watching sports (Go Habs Go), reading, learning languages, and travelling – he wants to visit as many countries around the world as possible.
Shae McCarthy

Shae is responsible for creating a focus on member services including coordination of education events and digital offerings, member programs such as bursary or discount programs and member services. She identifies opportunities for partnerships with educational institutions and private sector vendors and sponsors to provide educational development to Social Workers and Social Work Technicians. Members can contact Shae for all questions regarding scholarships, grants, bursaries, the Professional Development Fund as well as continuing professional education opportunities.
Shae is a settler on Wolastoqey territory and has a passion for bilingualism, performing arts, and their role in the future of New Brunswick. Shae's wellness activities heavily feature rock climbing, attempting to grow plants, and walking amongst trees while listening to an audiobook.
Sebastián Gómez Rodríguez

Sebastián supports the management of the registration process for social workers and social work technicians. Sebastián assists applicants and those going through the renewal process to ensure files are complete and questions related to registration are answered appropriately. He is the point of contact for applications and inquiries regarding social work technician membership, social work technician substantial equivalency, and social work technician student membership.
Sebastián graduated with a Combined Honors degree in Philosophy and Contemporary Studies from The University of King’s College in Halifax. He enjoys reading, board games, dancing, learning languages, and listening to Jazz.
Mélissa Frenette, BSW, MSW, RSW

As part of the NBASW Recruitment and Retention Strategy for Social Workers, Mélissa plays a key role in leading, planning and supporting the implementation of a Social Work Foreign Credential Recognition Program.
Mélissa holds a bachelor’s and master’s degree in social work from Université de Moncton. Her thesis focused on social workers’ perceptions of creativity. She is passionate about writing, collage and drawing and holds a Journal Créatif® certification. Hiking, camping and traveling are also activities that occupy her time.
Camille Carpio

Camille is the first point of contact for the office and is responsible for day-to-day general inquiries, as well as reception of members and the public. Camille assists the Association staff by coordinating all administrative activities in support of the goals, vision, and mission of the Association.
Camille graduated from NBCC Fredericton, where she completed the Administrative Professional - French Second Language Training program, providing her with comprehensive skills in office management and communication. Originally from the Philippines, she brings a diverse perspective to her role. In her free time, she appreciates the tranquility of nature walks and hopes to venture into hiking soon. She also enjoys listening to OPM and Pop music and unwinding with K-drama shows.
